At first we decided what the film would be about. We liked the problem – the idea about the Ant who went in the forest and got stuck in a plastic bottle ( earlier we talked about the dangers we created for small creatures by throwing empty plastic bottles in the nature). Then we learnt about nature, especially about ants, what they look like, what they eat, how small they are, how big their families are, what they do for a living. We found an ants nest near our kindergaten. The children were looking through magnifying glasses and saw a small ant 8 times closer. It was very interesting. In the third stage children made the bodies of ants and then they made the ants nest. They were working together like ants -  each child took one small piece of branch and put it on special surface.

SHOPING BAGS: Our kids decorated shoping bags with markers. They enjoyed that!
WASTE SEPARATION: Every month our kids collect paper with their parents, then they bring it to kindergarten and after that all waste-paper is colected by the local waste manager company. We do the same with plastic waste.
GIVE A HAND: We have tradition – organize joint work, then kids with they parents, grandparents, relatives come to kindergarten and help to keep our park clean. The place is becoming nicer every year.

Friday on 22th of May we planted 4 trees. Three will grow in our yard – maple, lime, horse-chesnut and one tree – near our park. That day we had a rain and we thought it was good for our new trees. Children enjoy planting…

AN INVITATION

ENO Programme invites you to an exciting event. We will plant trees at midday, in every corner of the world. The first trees will be planted at noon in Oceania. Following the Sun, new trees will be put to earth in Asia, Europe and Africa. Finally this chain of trees will reach Americas. Globe has turned on its axis. Trees will be planted on May 22nd. This day is also known as World Biodiversity Day by United Nations.

Tree planting is important for us. Firstly, it reminds us of the nature and the importance of environmental protection. Secondly, it is a symbol for the international co-operation. This event has become a success. Last year 2 000 schools in 122 countries planted 300 000 trees around ENO Tree Planting Day. We have also other activities: a special tree planting play (translated into over 40 languages!), tree planting songs etc.

Register below by 15th of May 2009. Find instructions, more information and material for the day on www.enotreeday.net

We sow seeds and look how quick they can grow. I took photos from two groups. We started our job in the end of March  and on April 24th. Some of our seeds were weak and they didn’t grow. We thought they might be old. We ate some of our plants. We gave them as a present to mumms on Mother’s Day.
Seeds who didn’t grow:

Hyacint, horse-beans, nasturtium.

Seeds who are growing:

Lettuce, lemon, French marigolds, beans, spring onions, garlic, pumpkin, radish, red beet.

Children from Winnie the Pooh group made a Eeyore from paper and paper scrolls. At first we made a donkey’s body – using a pattern, then we folded paper and glued it, from paper scrolls made legs for Eeyore. After some time Winnie the Pooh recieved a herd of donkeys.
